Kyle Erdmann - IT Coordinator
May 11, 2016
A typical day for Kyle involves upgrading software on Vista Prairie computers, updating Java and Adobe products, setting up new computers, researching and purchasing new technology for the communities, and of course, fixing any computer/phone/scanner/printer/network/email general technology issues as they arise.
Though he’s only worked as a professional IT guy for three years, he has been a non-official go-to tech guy for as long as he can remember. Friends and family have always known they can come to him for help diagnosing and fixing their malfunctioning technology. In addition to his day job here at Vista Prairie, Kyle is also working part-time on a Computer Science program at Metropolitan State University.
Asked about his work, Kyle says his favorite part is “Helping people by getting technology to work for them, not against them.” In his three months at Vista Prairie, he has enjoyed learning about the senior living industry and the role technology plays in providing top quality care.
The more Kyle learns about senior living, the more ideas he has for how technology can be used to improve the daily lives of Vista Prairie residents. Some of his goals for the next couple years include installing Wi-Fi throughout every Vista Prairie community, introducing a centralized communication system for all users, and identifying ways for the communities to save money by finding tech solutions that most efficiently and effectively address our needs.
Outside work, Kyle enjoys getting outdoors to work in his garden, work on home repairs and remodeling, go on bike rides, and tend to his five chickens. He also likes writing, meditating, food, and spending time with his wife and four kids.
