Endings & Beginnings Dementia Support Program

Dementia Support and Education for Families facing Alzheimer’s disease or other dementing illnesses.

“Endings & Beginnings” is a free six-week program that offers education and support for family members of care-facility residents who may be facing Alzheimer’s disease or other dementing illnesses. This innovative program covers a wide range of topics—from recognizing and treating our loved one’s various stages of dementia to coping with our own feelings of loss and confusion. With the proper knowledge and
support, we can help our loved ones—and each other—navigate the difficult changes these illnesses bring.

FREE Program!

S1: February 17: “Family Changes, Losses & Growth”
Get introduced to the program, share stories of your loved one’s struggle with dementia and discuss the changes life in a care setting can have on family dynamics.

S2: February 24: “Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease”
Learn how professionals assess the stages of dementia through use of the Global Deterioration Scale (GDS), Functional Assessment Staging Tool (FAST) and more.

S3: March 3: “Treatments, Medications & Research”
Dig deeper into the history of Alzheimer’s disease, its causes and the exciting research into how new medicines may help the body’s immune system fight the disease.

S4: March 10: “Effective Communication”
Find out how degenerative changes impact the dementia sufferer’s ability to communicate and learn effective new techniques for reestablishing a connection.

S5: March 17: “Behavior & the Nature of a Memory Care Unit”
