What’s Cooking: Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Posted on

It’s the one month of the year when the heart is always on our minds. From fighting heart disease for American Heart Month to celebrating the special people in our lives for Valentine’s Day, now it the time to spread the love and what better way than with a sweet treat!

Chocolate Dipped Tuxedo Strawberries
Makes 24-30 strawberries

24-30 strawberries, fresh
6 oz. of white chocolate
8 oz. of dark chocolate

Wash and dry the strawberries making sure the berries are fully dry as any water will cause the chocolate to seize up.

Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave (follow the melting directions on the package).

Holding onto the stem, dip the strawberry in the white chocolate. Give a quick little twist and shake with your fingers to shake off any of the excess chocolate and then point it at the ceiling for a couple seconds to ensure that the chocolate adheres. Place on a piece of wax paper to dry.

Melt the dark chocolate (follow the melting direction on the package).

Dip the strawberries in at a 45 degree angle from both sides to make the “jacket” part of the tuxedo. Let the excess drip off. Place on the wax paper to dry.

Place some melted dark chocolate into a piping bag with a very small tip or a Ziploc bag with a little corner snipped off. Pipe on the buttons and bow tie.

Allow to dry and cool. Tip: If drying seems to go too slowly, place in the freezer for about 3-5 minutes). Enjoy!
